Our Tips For a Magical Christmas

We are now well and truly in the midst of the festive season and its time to make our homes magical. From cosy lighting to stunning decorations, there are many ways in which we can bring that enchanted feel into the home. Below you will find all our top tips for making your Christmas more magical than ever this year.

1. Greenery

For an enchanting and magical Christmas at home I adorn every surface with festive foliage. In all my displays at home and especially at Christmas, I tend to lean towards faux greenery. Primarily due to fact they are everlasting and I will not have to constantly update the plants. In the long run, choosing faux is much more cost effective and can be used for many years to come, to create an infinite number of floral displays throughout the year. If you haven't invested in faux foliage yet, Natural Eucalyptus is beautiful all year round but especially for Christmas decor. For a simple yet sophisticated festive display, lay eucalyptus stems along the mantelpiece with a mix of baubles and Christmas Decorations. This is also perfect for a natural and rustic themed Christmas.

Every home needs a wreath within their festive decor. I have a few dotted around the house - the front door, mantelpiece and over mirrors is really effective too. If you are leaning towards the very on trend rustic theme for the festive period then opting for a twig wreath will ace the theme. Our Vine Wreath is perfect and will instantly add rustic warm charm to any space, whilst still bringing a hint of sparkle to your decor.

Why not pop a few of our Eucalyptus and White Berry Sprays to your everyday floral displays for the season.

2. Lighting

Every year I have the debate as to whether I prefer my Christmas decor in the day or night? I think I'm leaning towards the darkness!

When I get a chance to, I absolutely love getting cosy on the sofa with a hot chocolate and all the toppings, watching a Christmas movie in the midst of all our beautiful decorations. The lighting is such an important element to really achieve that cosy festive feel in your home. Therefore, make sure to choose lights that will compliment your decor. I will forever be a fan of a warm white light to create a welcoming ambience in our home.

I also want to mention the effect pillar candles can have on the atmosphere of a room. For an authentic rustic feel, fill your home with different candles to create a magical and romantic atmosphere this season.

3. Deck the Halls

Christmas is the one time of year we can go all out with our styling. I don't think you can ever be too over the top and it's a great opportunity to get creative. Whatever your theme, I think it's lovely to incorporate decorations that hold memories and nostalgia into your Christmas, such as our Festive Car with Tree. It has become a firm favourite in our home and a decoration we can't wait to unwrap when putting the decs up. The styling options are endless, in previous years I have styled mine on a stack of coffee table books on the console. Or alternatively, on the mantelpiece surrounded by our Pine Garland. You could also seamlessly nestle it at the bottom of the tree. The colour red wouldn't be one that I normally have in my interior scheme, but for Christmas there are no debates here.

4.  Add a touch of Sparkle

Again, throughout the year you wouldn't see any sparkle in my home. I'm very neutral when it comes to styling with pops of colour within soft furnishings and foliage. However, it's Christmas and with fairy lights popping up all over, decorations with sparkles will reflect the warm light beautifully to create a magical ambience in the home and the little ones love it too! For an intimate setting at the Christmas table, a vignette of Dove Candlesticks along the centre will capture light round the room to create a majestic and romantic aura for all guests to enjoy.

Fill space in your Christmas tree with our Christmas Acorns, which will give a rich and rustic effect to your decor, whilst remaining subtle. These acorns will lend themselves to so many style themes, from contemporary to rustic. Additionally, style the pair along the mantelpiece, nestled within foliage to add interest to your mantle display.

5. Table Styling

Styling my Christmas table is possibly my favourite task. There are so many elements to think of, from practicality, to intimacy, to the aesthetics! Therefore making it an opportunity to get creative and think outside the box. When designing a tablescape it's important to think through the placements of styling pieces, to ensure a sociable and welcoming atmosphere without skimping on style.  With this in mind, I tend to opt for a smaller centrepiece or a Crown Candle Holder on Foot, with shorter styling accessories along the centre of the table. The key to mastering a tablescape would most certainly be layering materials. Our Linen Napkins have a calming tone that will blend perfectly with your table decor and which you can use all year long. I always tie a Christmas tree decoration to my napkins, which guests can take home and has become a tradition within our family. This year I will be using our Antique Silver Baubles which follows my rustic theme.

If you're limited on table space this year, then a garland is an effective way to decorate your table without taking too much room. Our Eucalyptus and White Berry Garland and Wreath is the perfect solution. Pop a a Pillar candle in the middle of the wreath to create and sociable atmosphere, whilst allowing the garland to add texture and interest to the table, without becoming a nuisance.
